Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation Experimentation Guide and Journal
By Jimmie L. Holman, Thomas D. Drake, & Paul V. Dorneanu
The tDCS Exploration Workbook is broken into 6 primary sections. While impractical for most to print out the entire booklet, no printing restrictions have been placed on the PDF. The reader is encouraged to print out and notate any part desired. The Workbook and all content are designed to be used with personal computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Some sections are primarily meant to be printed out in part or total for keeping handwritten notes if desired. Still other is reference and linked material. Any section may be printed out in part or whole.
OPENING / INTRO
The Introduction and Contents are outlined for quick and easy access to all topics and components within the workbook.
Section 1 - tDCS TECHNOLOGY
This is a lay-persons introduction, overview, and explanation of the tDCS technology. Focus has been placed on both the new user, or those who know of the technology and just want to easily get much deeper into the technology. A newcomer to the technology should not be intimidated but rather comfortable within the first few pages.
Section 2 - OPERATIONS GUIDE
As the title suggests, this section quickly familiarizes the new user with the practical implementation and use of the instrument and assists the user in proper and safe operation.,
Section 3 - SAMPLE MONTAGES
Probably the most sought-after section of the book, a wealth of known montages is included for a variety of common uses. This section has been greatly expanded, (more than doubled), for the 2020 edition. Visual locations for electrode placement are clear and concise. Reference abstracts are included to allow the user more information for save use as well as clues for modification and experimentation. Areas are also included for notetaking when selected montages are individually printed out.
Section 4 - NOOTROPICS & tDCS
Nootropics, frequently referred to as “smart drugs” or “cognitive enhancers”, are drugs, supplements, and other substances that improve cognitive function, memory, creativity, and motivation. The symbiotic paring and use of nootropics with tDCS can greatly enhance the results of each technique for both immediate and long-term modifications. This section provides a brief overview of approximately 85 of today's most prominent and available nootropics with suggested use and practical dosages.
Section 5 - WORKBOOK /JOURNAL
This section of the workbook is solely intended to be printed and used by the experimenter and researcher to log and notate journal experiences. Quick reference of common montage placement illustrations and checklists are conveniently located in this section. Worksheet illustrations allowing for easy location recording of placements used are included. (This may be the only section the user really desired to print out!)
Section 6 - REFERENCES / ABSTRACTS
This large section includes the referenced materials as well as a large body (well over 300) published practical scientific studies on the topic. Where possible, links are also given to the full published papers to give the reader and researcher more direct information as needed.
BACKUP
It is recommended users make a backup copy of all contents on this flash drive before beginning. All file contents may be copied to another device and used if needed to restore corrupted files or to move for use to a separate device.
REGISTER
Register your tDCS instrument and book. Future montage additions and other content are expected to be added to the tDCS Exploration Workbook as time permits. As a registered user, you will be able to download new additions and/or retrieve master documents as needed. (This will not include your personally journaled content!)
